The Golden Roof in Innsbruck
The Golden Roof Museum is a memorial to Emperor Maximilian I (1459−1519), one of Europe's most influential players in his era. He bequeathed to his favourite town, Innsbruck, many relics; the Golden Roof was one of them and it has since become an acknowledged symbol for the city. Visitors to the museum are accompanied by an audioguide through the very varied exhibition, which traces the extraordinary life of Emperor Maximilian I. One of the museum's highlights is the almost tangible proximity to the Golden Roof itself.
